Newsletter : Primary

Hello and welcome back to KGS Primary Section for the Academic Year 2018-2019.  It is lovely to see your children back after the summer holidays ready to embrace a new year for learning and developing.

Changes this year have taken place in terms of new overseas staff for Specialist Classes and Homeroom Leaders.  As we are following (CAIE), Cambridge International Programme alongside (M.o.E) Moroccan Program, we are developing a balanced program to meet the needs of both curriculums.

The Cambridge Program is based on an inclusion program, therefore the students will learn together in their homeroom, giving opportunities for collaborative learning by integrating the curriculum for the students to work independently with each other, while the teacher will facilitate the curriculum to meet the needs of the child.

Individual class timetables were sent home last Friday, either by hand with your child/ren or via Class Dojo.  Some teachers are already fully equipped with Class Dojo while other teachers are still waiting to send out the Parent Codes for parents to connect with this communication program.  The timetables have taken longer than expected to prepare as there have been a few conflicts with the timetable of a specialist teacher, who works with Middle School.  Thank you for waiting patiently.

I would like to apologize for the confusing with the stationary lists.  A list was posted on the website during the summer holidays which was not updated to include the new notebooks for the English program.  The English Program only requires 4 notebooks to be used for the curriculum:

  1. English
  2. Maths
  3. Topic (Science, History and Geography)
  4. Art/DT

These books are available from Mrs Mamri in accounting from 14.00 – 16. 00 pm daily.  Each book is 20 Dh.  Books are differentiated by the line sizes to accommodate the learning and developmental motor skills/co-ordination of children at each level.

If you have already purchased books from the stationary list on the website, please use these books as we do not expect parents to buy excess amounts of stationary that do not get used.

Code of Conduct:

We have introduced a new Dress Code to the school, please check on the website for dress details.  You will have until the end of the month before we begin to implement a tracking system of students who are not adhering to the Code of Conduct.  Please be aware that we expect the highest standard of co-operation from parents to ensure their child/ren are in school uniform.

Lateness:  Again, we are experiencing children coming very late to school.  Your child/ren should be inside the school by the latest 07.55 am to line up in the playground and be ready to walk to their classroom with their classroom with their classmates and the Homeroom Leader.  At the end of the month any child who is late for class will need to wait in the canteen until the following period to stop any distractions and missed teaching that have already started in the class.  Please ensure your child is prompt to starting the school day and is ready for learning at the beginning of the first period in the morning.

As always I would like to thank you for your continued support of the school and look forward to improving the school community for all students, parents and staff.

I look forward to meeting you all over the course of the year, we have and will be preparing some exciting events this year with your children that will open the school community to link with the wider community.  Let the fun begin…..

Many thanks

Linda Mae
